What do you get when you combine a new Kia Optima with basketball star Blake Griffin and a spot on FunnyOrDie.com? A hilarious snippet that shows both the Optima's sporty style and explores what would happen when a car, instead of a professional basketball player, decides to "dunk."
Griffin is currently an All-Star forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, and one of the stunts he is known for is soaring over a Kia and catching an alley-oop pass to become the victor in the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. This year, on the eve of the this year's Slam Dunk Contest, Kia teamed up with FunnyOrDie.com to produce a video satirizing Griffin's amazing dunk last year by turning the situation inside out: the Kia would now dunk over Griffin. He states in the video, "What's crazier than dunking on a Kia Optima? Having it dunk over me. . . I looked into it and it's entirely possible."1
To the amusement of the viewer, Griffin and his team of scientists, including a "Dunkologist" apparently didn't look into the mechanics of the dunk very well, because the ramp that's been constructed for the car to jump over Griffin smashes to bits when approached by the Kia Optima, and Griffin is "hit" by the automobile instead. (He is uninjured, of course!)
