The 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X is 20 inches longer than a standard Wrangler, holds 85 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats folded down, and has four full-size doors. Few of those inches go to increase room in the cramped backseat. Equipped with rear-wheel drive, this utility vehicle rides on a solid live axle front and rear suspension and 16-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. 17-inch wheels are optional. and the optional 4-speed automatic only makes estimates worse. Four-wheel disc and ABS brakes, dual front-side airbags, a tire monitor, traction and stability control, and rollover sensors earn 5-star ratings for frontal impact. Side curtain airbags are not an option. Although it doesn't feature four-wheel drive, the 2008 Wrangler Unlimited X does come with skid plates and ten inches of ground clearance. The windshield folds down, and the four doors are removable. Inside, the rear seats split-fold, and the entire cabin features drain holes in case you have to cross a shallow pond. The cargo area comes standard with tie-downs, a plastic rear window, and a side-opening rear door. Intermittent wipers are standard up front, and rear wipers are optional. Other passenger-friendly equipment includes a CD/MP3 player, cupholders for both rows, front power outlets, and a soft-top convertible roof. If you need to be pampered, you can add power windows and locks, remote entry, and remote start. A hardtop convertible roof and soft-top with sunroof are also available. Other options include a 6-CD changer, satellite radio, a rear differential, a tow package that will handle up to 3,500 pounds.
